President Museveni did a lot towards stabilizing and developing Uganda. This can be seen in the following areas
1. President Museveni fought the Lord's resistance army until they were defeated and their leader Joseph kony exiled in democratic republic of congo. This ushered in peace in the northern part of the country since late 2000s.
2. The president also improved the economy of the country in many ways. For example, he embarked on construction of roads to ease transportation of goods from rural to urban areas. He also encouraged borrowing from financial institution at friendly percentage among others. These were all done to improve the economic status of the population.
3. The president also improved the education sector. He did this by adopting universal primary education in 2007 where all government schools were not supposed to charge the parents any money. He also introduced the same to secondary level. At university level, he introduced government sponsorship on national merit and so on. These were all to produce labor force that can help in developing the country.
4. He also improved the health sector. For example, he introduced immunisation against measles, polio and many others in children. All these were made free of charge in all government hospitals and some private facilities across the country.
5. He also improved the status of women in Uganda. For example, he introduced affirmative action where every districts elects women to parliament without competing with men. A ministry of gender, labour and social development were also put in place to handle gender related issues. These were to recognize the contribution women play towards the development of the country.
In conclusion, the president came to power and ushered in a peaceful country with improved economic development.
